Community Action Fair

Mark your Calendars!

The launching of the first 2 projects to come out of the Visioning has provided the model for how we will launch future projects …  and that future begins Sept 25th! That’s when we’ll be having the next “Community Action Fair (CAF)” where we’ll be launching the next wave of Vision projects and we will announce 2-3 more initiatives which we hope will take off just like the first 2.

This CAF will be held at the Elks Hall in Greenwood Lake and as we get closer, we'll send around a reminder with a pre-announcement of the projects to be launched. We think you’ll find them really intriguing and we look forward to seeing you there and working with you to turn these visions into reality.

Visioning: What do we want for Warwick?

This is an open call to all Warwickians: wouldn’t you like to have some say about what will and won’t happen here in the next 20 years?

You can!

Warwick — the entire Town and the 3 Villages — is in the middle of a Visioning project called Community2gether. Visioning involves a community coming together and deciding what they do and don’t want to see in their community. Those four words, “coming together and deciding,” will be the focus of the Town-wide Community Voices meeting on Monday, December 11 from 7 - 9 pm at the Warwick Middle School cafeteria.

If you’re concerned about how Warwick can grow and prosper without losing the special qualities that make the Town, the Villages, the hamlets special … come to this meeting.

If you would like to see young people and seniors be able to afford to live here … come to this meeting.

If you have ideas for the kinds of businesses you would like to see — or not see — in our community … come to this meeting.

If you like your community just the way it is … come to this meeting. If you see some things that you know could be done better … come to this meeting.

If you think it’s a bad idea to sit back and just accept what happens … come to this meeting.

It’s time to “come together and decide” on December 11. Mark your calendars!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT THIS WORKSHOP?

The Town Workshop will review the results of the survey, suggest additions, identify what’s missing, and prioritize preliminary community goals. As you arrive, you will be seated at small tables and will meet your trained facilitator. You will use electronic keypads, small hand-held devices, that will register your responses to questions and instantaneously display the results on a screen.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

At the completion of this final Town workshop, TOGETHER Steering Committee members will hold small, informal meetings to present the results to groups of residents that may not have had an opportunity to participate previously (non-English speaking residents, for example).

WHAT WILL THE VISION BE LIKE?

It is up to you to imagine what the Warwick Valley has the potential to achieve. The Vision will be based on the consensus that you help identify and the priorities that you set. It will be as bold as you can envision it! It will be detailed with specific, achievable tasks and recommendations on how to implement them.

The results will be presented to the Warwick Valley community in early 2018.

Greenwood Lake Residents:

Your Voice is Needed!

Change and growth are words that can make people nervous, especially when it’s unknown as to how their lives and communities will be impacted.  That said, change and growth are coming to Greenwood Lake whether we want it or not.  We need to ask ourselves, do we approach “change and growth” strategically and intentionally?  Or do we leave things alone and let things change haphazardly or without a shared vision of what “change and growth” should look like?  Also, while it’s important to protect and maintain what we have, and to identify the things we need and want, nothing comes without a price.  That is what the Town of Warwick Visioning process is about.  It’s about prioritizing goals and creating a plan on how we manage “change and growth” going forward.  This is what will be discussed at our up-coming “Community Voices” meeting.  The meeting is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.  It's about your future!  Become engaged in the process and attend.
